Kendra Gabrielle brings a refreshing, unapologetic voice to Canadian country music. With a knack for bringing the audience in and making them feel like her best friend, her music underscores life as a 20-something, navigating the world of friends and relationships. As a newcomer to the music industry her motto of ‘learning as I go” translates to her early music career but also the stories she tells through her music.
Raised between Mississauga and Milton, Ontario, Kendra’s love for music began from a young age and carried on with the classical training she received at the prestigious Royal Conservatory of Music, where she spent four years honing her skills in voice and guitar. Her passion for music only grew, so she pursued her education at Carleton University, obtaining an undergraduate degree in Classical Voice and Songwriting.
For nearly a decade, Kendra has shared her love for music as a teacher, instructing students in voice, guitar, piano, and soprano/baritone ukulele. She served as Music Director for school plays in the private school system, enriching the lives of young performers with her passion.
Kendra's roots in music run deep. She often jokes that "My Heart Will Go On" was her lullaby, declaring, “I’ve known good music since birth.” This early exposure to timeless melodies and powerful performances set the stage for her own musical aspirations. It was through her formal education that she discovered a natural affinity for music, and the stage became her home. Inspired by the authenticity of artists like Taylor Swift (Kendra is also a Swiftie), Kelsea Ballerini, and Carly Pearce, Kendra began to write her own songs, leaning into the artistry of writing.
Kendra found her place in the indie country music industry scene with her first country single, “Drunk on My Own”. It has received airplay on SiriusXM’s Top Of The Country radio along with support from Amazon Music's editorial playlists Breakthrough Country and Just North Of Nashville. “Drunk On My Own” scored Kendra a nomination at the Mississauga Music Awards for Best New Solo Artist. “He’s Not You”, also garnered support from Amazon Music’s editorial playlists. The single “Red” was also added to over 30 radio stations across Canada. Her debut EP, Can’t Help Myself was released in Fall 2023 and is encroaching 150,000 global streams.
She’s performed writers' rounds at the Moonshine Cafe, a Top 5 performance at Diamonds In The Rough in 2023 and memorable shows like CMAOntario’s “Sauga Sunday” at Celebration Square and “Viva Goa,” North America's largest Goan festival. She’s also taken the stage for Mississauga Music Week, Canada Day in Milton, Richmond Hill, and Ajax, along with the TD Music Summer Series in Oakville and Ajax.
Despite not growing up in the country, she channels the spirit of country legends Shania Twain and Dolly Parton in her music, along with contemporary influences like Lainey Wilson and Kelsea Ballerini.
A perfectionist and overachiever, Kendra constantly strives for growth in an industry that challenges her to be better every day. Working with producer Adam Newcomb, Kendra Gabrielle is working on brand new music for release later this year!
